A heartwarming email response from a University of Tennessee college professor garnered widespread praise after it went viral.
A University of Tennessee professor is getting all the praise after her email response to a student who missed class went viral.
The reason Morgan King, 21, couldn’t attend class was that she couldn’t find someone to babysit her three-month-old daughter Korbyn, she wrote to her tutor to explain.
Normally her grandparents take care of the baby during the day, but that morning Morgan had to juggle other commitments. She had no choice but to skip her human development class and stay home with Korbyn.
After skipping a quiz and two study videos, Morgan wasn’t sure how her professor would react. But what she didn’t expect was Dr. Sally Hunter’s answer:
I’m sorry you missed class today due to childcare issues.
She continued by outlining what Morgan had missed, how she could access the independent study videos, and that it was still okay to turn in the day’s assignment. Then she convinced a student who majored in therapeutic recreation to do something, not many professors would do: bring a child to class.
“Feel free to BRING HER to class with you if you have trouble finding someone to watch Korbyn in the future.” If you want to focus on the lesson and take notes, I’m happy to hold it while I instruct.
She said, “Imagine how terrible it would be if I refused to let the child attend our class?” I teach Adolescent and Family Studies, so how bad would it be? I’m serious about this offer, so please invite Korbyn.
Dr. H even went so far as to state that the quiz Morgan missed would be skipped and that she considered her absence “excused” as if her kind offer wasn’t heartbreaking enough in itself.
Morgan posted a picture of the email on Twitter after being so shocked by her professor’s response, and it quickly went viral.
She ended her post by writing, “I’m literally bawling.” “I’m so blessed/grateful,”
According to local reporters, Morgan is shaking just thinking about the sweet gift.
He actually cares about my academic performance in his class. I was really touched by what you said.
Despite Morgan knowing that she is “Twitter Famous”, Morgan claims that Professor Hunter, who does not have a Twitter account, does not believe that she has achieved anything important.
Dr. H deserves all the praise! She made a sincere offer to Morgan and it shows who she is as a person and a teacher. Although it’s unusual, it’s what her student needs to succeed. That’s the best that can be said, right?
The viral email exchange serves as a powerful reminder that a small act of kindness and understanding can have a profound impact on someone’s life. The unwavering support of Dr. Huntera Morgan resonated with countless individuals and emphasized the importance of empathy and compassion in the educational environment. Her actions show that sometimes she can be the key to empowering students and helping them succeed, breaking the mold, and embracing unconventional solutions.
