Whitney Purvis, Former 16 and Pregnant Star, Shares Heartbreaking Update

The sudden and devastating loss of Weston Gosa Jr., the 16-year-old son of former 16 and Pregnant star Whitney Purvis, has sent shockwaves through their community and shattered a mother’s world.

On June 2, Whitney took to Facebook to share the heartbreaking news, revealing a grief so raw it left many speechless.

Whitney Purvis, who first captured hearts on MTV’s 16 and Pregnant, faced a tragedy no parent should ever endure—the unexpected death of her teenage son, Weston Jr. The 33-year-old reality star’s public announcement came through a poignant Facebook post filled with sorrow and disbelief.

Weston was just sixteen years old.

Accompanied by a heartfelt collection of photos tracing Weston’s life from infancy through adolescence, Whitney’s tribute expressed a mother’s anguish and confusion. “Writing these words feels unbearable,” she shared. “My beautiful boy, Weston, has left us. He was only sixteen. Life has dealt a blow so cruel, I don’t know how to move forward without him.”

Her message captured the depth of a parent’s pain: “He was perfect in every way. This is every parent’s worst nightmare. How does one go on after losing a child? I still struggle to accept that this is reality. I would give anything to turn back time. There are no words for this kind of sorrow.”

In a moving and intimate farewell, Whitney continued, “Weston Owen Gosa, my love for you is eternal. I was so proud watching the young man you were becoming. Rest now, my angel—you left us too soon, but you will live forever in my heart.”

Alongside a tender photo of her holding her son close, she wrote, “Rest peacefully, my dear Weston. June 2, 2025 – April 2, 2009. You will always be my baby. I’ll never understand why life can be so cruel, but you’ll forever be my light.”

Weston’s stepmother also shared her heartbreak on social media, revealing the family is awaiting autopsy results and that Weston had been managing several chronic health issues, including diabetes.

“All we know is that early this morning, around 7 a.m., we found him unresponsive,” she explained. “We called 911, performed CPR, and the paramedics continued efforts at the hospital, but nothing could bring him back.”

Describing Weston as “brilliant, kind-hearted, and full of promise,” she expressed the crushing blow the family now faces. “This was completely unexpected. Losing a child is a pain beyond words. Please keep Whitney and all of us in your thoughts and prayers.”

Born in 2009, Weston appeared alongside Whitney in the first season of 16 and Pregnant. In 2014, Whitney and Weston Sr. welcomed another son, River, before their eventual separation. Recent years brought challenges for Whitney, including losing custody of both children and a 2024 arrest related to unpaid child support, adding layers of complexity to an already difficult life.

Now, as Whitney and her family grapple with this unbearable loss, they cling to memories of Weston’s laughter, his bright spirit, and the love that defined his brief life. Her raw and heartfelt tribute stands as a testament to the unbreakable bond between mother and child—even in the face of unimaginable sorrow.
