According to reports, a young husband lost his life in a car accident on Monday while traveling for his bride’s honeymoon. It happened just one day after the couple got married.
Daniel Palacios III, 27, and his wife, Christy Carrillo, 23, were traveling on 1-40 when their Toyota 4Runner went off the road and hit a dirt embankment, according to Tennessee State Police who spoke to WREG Memphis.
As a result, the couple’s pickup truck overturned several times and eventually entered oncoming traffic and was struck by a truck.
Palacios was killed in the crash, Fayette County Fire Chief sources confirmed. Carillo was wounded but lived.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Palacios was driving a truck for someone else when the fatal crash occurred and was not wearing a seatbelt.
There was an accident in Fayette County on I-40 this afternoon. The distance from Memphis was about forty miles.
Daniel Palacios Jr., his father, told the Daily Mail that Palacios was killed the day after their wedding.Â
The news was informed by his father: “I lost a son, but I gained a daughter.”
September 2023 was the date of their marriage proposal.
He claimed his daughter-in-law was “bruised and emotionally distraught” after the collision and her husband’s death, but was allowed to leave the hospital later that day.
He assured the newspaper that “she’s going to be fine.”Â
Video of what happened after the horrific tragedy was sent to WREG by a passerby.
“As I got closer to the accident, it looked like the rear tire might have blown,” Dennis Vann told the news agency. After hitting the median, it flipped about twenty times.
Vann claimed the devastation of the accident was the worst he had ever seen. Always travels from 1-40.
Palacios Jr. revealed the date of his son’s funeral – March 16 – in a heartfelt Facebook post. In addition, he expressed gratitude to everyone for their “expressions of love and especially prayers” as the family worked through the loss.
The latest horrific incident on I-40 in Tennessee is the death of a recently married husband.
Hours after Palacios was killed, a plane carrying three children and two adults crashed on a road near Nashville’s John C. Tune Airport, about 200 miles away.
The single-engine plane was shown in a terrifying video landing next to the road and bursting into flames moments after the pilot said: “I can’t make it.”
The tragic accident that claimed the life of Daniel Palacio III, just a day after his wedding, left a deep impact on his family and community. Palacios and his wife, Christy Carrillo, were on their way to their honeymoon when their vehicle went off the road, resulting in a devastating collision with a truck. While Carrillo survived with injuries, Palacios lost his life in the crash, adding more heartache to their recent nuptials.
The loss of Palacios was deeply felt by his father, Daniel Palacios Jr., who shared his grief and gratitude for the support and prayers received during this difficult time. A crash on I-40 in Fayette County adds to a string of unfortunate events on that stretch of highway. Adding to the tragedy a few hours later was a plane crash near Nashville, underscoring a day marked by deep sadness and loss.
As the family begins to process their grief, they find comfort in the support of loved ones and in the memories of Daniel Palacios. His father announced the funeral date and expressed appreciation for the outpouring of sympathy. The community mourns the loss of a young life too soon while offering condolences and support to those affected by this heartbreaking series of events.
