However, the truth turned out to be completely different.
The photo was taken by Serbian photographer Vesna Mihajloski. She visited the cemetery to find out why the dog dug the hole and ended up making an incredible discovery.
It was found that the dog made no effort to dig the grave. She dug the hole for a completely different reason.
She just gave birth to four little puppies.
The dog’s mother did not mourn the loss of the deceased owner at all; she was just a stray dog looking for a place to hide her puppies. She felt dazed and bloated, so Vesna offered her some food and water.
As soon as Vesna gained the dog’s trust, she brought the whole family home.
Together with their mother, the puppies were finally safe and could escape the cold graveyard.
After being allowed to nurse in silence, the puppies grew quickly.
Vesna brought the family to the vet to check their health and get them fixed. They would not be able to have more puppies, which would prevent them from ending up on the streets.
I sincerely hope that all four puppies find loving, permanent homes rather than ending up on the streets. It’s amazing that there are people who love animals and care for these stray dogs!
