This young girl tolerated the hardships of World War II and spent the nights in underground steps with her family and constantly moved from place to place. Despite these early challenges, she increased as a successful actress and later married a man much younger than her.
Although she had a war, she was too young to remember all the important events that led to her. The war interrupted her education, but eventually became one of the most famous stars of her generation.
She was born on May 23, 1933 in England in London and was the oldest child Elsa, a former hostess at the Night Club, and Joseph, Agent Talent. Elsa, Brit and Joseph, originally from South Africa, had two more children: Jackie (born in 1937) and Bill (born in 1946). The family experienced a war in London.
They were looking for refuge at pipe stations along with other Londoners who escaped German bombings. In May 2020 she shared her memories of the times and remembered how very young she was when the war began, and her father stayed in London to entertain the remaining ones. She mentioned, “But I was constantly evacuated … we were everywhere.”
The constant movement disrupted her education, so the school was very demanding. But she had her mother and siblings with her, which caused heavy times to be more acceptable.
She remembered the sleeping underground, often in a marble arch, and described it as a friendly place where people played accordions and sang.
So who is the girl who spent the night underground? She is none other than Joan Collins, a famous English actress known for her role in the dramatic series 1981 “Dynasty”, along with Linda Evans.
In an interview in 2013, Collins shared that her grandmother taught her to sing, dance and encouraged her to continue playing. But her father was against her to become an actress, and claimed she would be irrelevant under 23 years. She showed him that he was wrong.
Despite a successful career, Collins’s love life was complicated. She was once engaged to actor Warren Beatty and at the age of 26 she became pregnant with her child. Beatty urged her to end her pregnancy and claim that it would damage their career. Although uncertain at first, Collins, now the mother of three, later agreed with his justification.
Although she and beatty never married, Collins had a total of four marriages. She is now married to her fifth husband, actor Percy Gibson, whom she married in February 2002.
“Percy is the most amazing man I have ever met,” Collins said only a month after their wedding. While she did not plan to get married again, he changed his mind.

Collins and Gibson met in New York in 2000 while she played in the game and he was a producer. They began a passionate relationship when she was at the age of 60, and was at the age of 30. Despite the 32 -year age, their relationship has always been strong.
Today, Collins is 90 years old and her husband, Gibson, is 58-32 years younger than his famous wife, who won the Golden Globe Award.
