A Grocery Store Encounter with a Twist
While browsing the aisles of a supermarket, a young man noticed an elderly woman quietly following him. She seemed to mirror his movements, stopping when he stopped, and kept looking at him with a familiar gaze.
At the checkout, she approached and said softly, “I hope I haven’t made you uneasy. You just remind me so much of my late son.”
The man smiled reassuringly, “It’s okay.”

Then she asked something unusual: “Would you mind calling out ‘Goodbye, Mom’ as I leave the store? It would really mean a lot to me.”
He agreed, and as she walked out, he called, “Goodbye, Mom!” She waved back, beaming.
Feeling happy for making her day, he turned to pay for his groceries—only to be startled.
“That will be $121.85,” the clerk said.
“Wait, what? I only have five items!” he exclaimed.
The clerk chuckled. “Your mother says you’re paying for hers too.”
