After hosting the Oscars, Jimmy Kimmel has been labeled a “national disgrace.”

After presenting at the Oscars, Jimmy Kimmel failed to please many people, with some even calling him a “national embarrassment.” A year after Chris Rock’s controversial performance last year, the TV presenter was selected to emcee the 95th Academy Awards.

The Oscars are one of the most prestigious award ceremonies in the entertainment industry. Every year, this event brings together the biggest names in Hollywood to celebrate the best films, actors, and directors of the year. However, as with any major event, there is always room for controversy and criticism. This was especially true at the 95th Academy Awards, where host Jimmy Kimmel was accused of being a “national disgrace.”

Kimmel, who previously hosted the Oscars in 2017 and 2018, was chosen to host the event again in 2023. However, his performance did not sit well with many viewers. Some criticized him for his jokes, while others accused him of being insensitive and disrespectful.

One of the most talked about moments of the evening was Kimmel’s interaction with Malala Yousafzai. The Pakistani activist, who attended the Oscars as executive producer of the documentary short Stranger at the Gate, was praised for taking Kimmel to task for a joke he made about Harry Styles. The joke, which referenced the controversy surrounding singer-actor Chris Pine, was seen by many as inappropriate and out of place at an event meant to celebrate the best in the film industry.

Many viewers applauded Yousafzai’s reaction to Kimmel’s joke. She reminded Kimmel that she was here to talk about peace and education, not discuss celebrity gossip. Her measured and dignified response was seen as a sharp contrast to Kimmel’s irreverent humor.

But Kimmel’s interaction with Yousafzai wasn’t the only controversial moment of the night. He also upset the audience with a joke he made about the late actor Robert Blake. The joke, which asked viewers to text a number if they believed Blake should be included in the In Memoriam montage, was deemed tacky and insensitive.

The backlash against Kimmel’s performance at the Oscars is a reminder of the challenges facing hosts of major events. On the one hand, they are expected to entertain the audience and bring humor to the plot. On the other hand, they must be careful not to offend or upset anyone.

In recent years, the Oscars have faced increasing criticism for a lack of diversity and representation. The controversy over Kimmel’s performance is just one example of the challenges the Academy faces as it tries to modernize and stay relevant in a rapidly changing entertainment landscape.

Despite the controversy, Kimmel remains a popular figure in the entertainment industry. Since 2003, he has hosted his own late-night talk show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and won numerous awards for his work. While his performance at the Oscars may have been divisive, it’s unlikely to have a long-term impact on his career.

All of the above, The Academy Awards is a high-stakes event that can bring both fame and controversy to those involved. Jimmy Kimmel’s performance as host of the 95th Academy Awards was met with mixed reactions, with some praising his humor and others criticizing his jokes as insensitive and inappropriate. While the backlash against Kimmel’s performance is a reminder of the challenges facing hosts of major events, it’s also a sign of the growing importance of diversity and representation in the entertainment industry. As the Academy continues to grapple with these issues, it will be up to hosts like Kimmel to strike a balance between entertainment and sensitivity.

  1. Jimmy Kimmel did a great job. People are so quick to bad mouth others. Could they get up there and do what he did? There are always going to be jokes that some people disapprove of, but others like. Who cares? Give credit where credit is due and he deserves a lot of credit.

  2. We liked the awards ceremonies when people, movies and producers received awards for their fine work, not for being forced to promote a movie or star because a certain ethnicity had to be recognized. There are just to many forced issues that are promoted by politics these days.

  3. Liked award ceremonies when people, movies & producers received awards 4 their fine work, not 4 being forced to promote a movie or star because a ethnicity had to be recognized. To much politics these days.
