The new AirPods Pro 2 is even better than the original! Our review covers everything from the improved design to the updated features.
Smaller and more streamlined than the original, these earbuds are also more powerful and feature-rich, without adding extra bulk to your ears or your pocket. With four different sizes of interchangeable tips available, you can be sure that they will fit comfortably in your ears and sound great while they’re there.
A Closer Look
You might be noticing that I am not diving into what it feels like to use these AirPods Pro 2. That is because when it comes to listening to music and podcasts, there is no other experience that I can compare them to.
They are, in my opinion, some of the best pieces of hardware that Apple has ever created. The design is sleek and comfortable while being easy to wear for long periods of time. The new model also has a button on the backside so you can control your volume without having to reach up to touch your device screen.
It’s one of those small details that make all the difference in everyday life. And did I mention they’re water resistant? So don’t worry about wearing them out in the rain! Unlike many people who have a love-hate relationship with their wireless earbuds, I have zero complaints.
These AirPods Pro 2 make me feel empowered and productive, which was exactly what Apple was going for with this product. For anyone who hasn’t bought the first generation yet, or is just looking to upgrade from last year’s model, then I would recommend going straight for these new models – you won’t regret it! Let’s dive into the detailed review of it.
The $249.00 price tag may make it seem like an expensive investment, but considering how many hours I spend on my daily commute and at work, they’re worth it.
Not to mention that they are worth every penny when I can show up to a meeting and not worry about an annoying wire dangling from my neck. I no longer have to be on guard for people trying to yank on my earbuds or feel around for them in case they fall out of my ears.
And with their water-resistant feature, there’s no need to worry about the rain or sweat ruining them either! It’s also nice not having any cords getting tangled up with everything else in my bag as well. Overall, it’s worth the price tag.
Design and Feel
The first thing I noticed about AirPods Pro 2 was how easy they were to pair with my iPhone. With Apple’s True Wireless technology, all you have to do is open your new AirPods’ case near your phone and it automatically detects it, and then simply tap a button on the case to connect them.
This pairing process is a cinch! And when you’re ready to put them away, just close the lid of their charging case and everything goes dark until you want to use them again. One other big difference between these new AirPods Pro 2 and their predecessors is that these are water-resistant.
They are able to be submerged in up to 1 meter of water for up to 30 minutes without any damage whatsoever. If you ever lose one or both of your AirPods Pro 2 while swimming or snorkeling, you can easily find them because they’re equipped with an innovative Find My Buds feature.
If someone else finds one or both of your earbuds, they can get in touch with you through the Find My Buds app by using either voice input or text message. All this makes me really excited to take these amazing earbuds out into the world to see what we can accomplish together!
The Sound quality
The AirPods Pro 2 has excellent sound and can block out more noise than most other wireless earbuds. When I walked around in busy city streets with them, my music was clear and clean no matter how loud it got. The bass is strong but still subtle enough to be refined and not overpowering.
They also have a really good range on their Bluetooth connection, so that I could walk across my apartment and not lose the signal (unlike some competitors). Their battery life has improved, too, giving me an extra two hours of listening time over the first version.
My favorite feature of these earbuds is how they automatically turn off when you take them out of your ears. I don’t know what took Apple so long to think of this, but it’s a lifesaver for those who listen to podcasts while walking down the street.
So if you’re listening to a podcast or finishing up a call, taking them out pauses your audio and puts them back into standby mode. It’s such a great touch!
At first glance, it’s easy to dismiss AirPods Pro 2 as just a refresh of the original with a minor design change. This would be wrong, however, because they’re so much more than that. These are hands-down the best wireless earbuds Apple has ever created and some of my favorite headphones currently on the market.
They have plenty of sound and battery life improvements over their predecessor. The enhanced haptic feedback is another great addition to this new model.
What I mean by this is that the vibrations from the pods in your ears give you an indication when you’ve tapped into one of your connected devices or when you’ve reached the end of a playlist. There are also improved noise-canceling features that make for even better audio quality.
All in all, these AirPods Pro 2 confirm that they offer an excellent mix of performance and comfort which can’t be matched by other brands like Beats or Bose. It is without question that if you want to invest in wireless earbuds, AirPods Pro 2 should be at the top of your list. You will not regret buying them.
Noise cancellation also works really well for me when I am using these headphones around people who are talking loudly or there is too much background noise such as construction work happening outside.
When the person talks louder, their voice comes through clearer which has been helpful for me as someone who doesn’t like yelling to be heard over loud noises.
The headphones are also supposed to automatically turn off noise-cancellation when they detect that there are no longer any high-volume sounds being produced by either the user or anyone else nearby.
One important thing you can ask Siri is whether or not your AirPods Pro 2 has turned off noise-canceling mode. If they are, you need to hold both earbuds in one hand and tap them with your other. The sound of Tapping will come out of the left speaker if it was turned on, but if it was already off then nothing will happen.
I find this a great feature because I don’t have to worry about forgetting my earbuds somewhere while they are still in the noise-cancellation mode because now I can just ask Siri!
Unfortunately, it seems that sometimes my AirPods Pro 2 still stays in noise-canceling mode even though no one else is speaking loudly anymore. So far I haven’t found an effective way to get them out of this mode besides restarting the whole device and hoping for the best!
The first time I tried wearing these without noise-cancellation on, I felt so distracted by all the different ambient noises going on around me that I couldn’t focus at all. It took a few minutes before things started to sound normal again.
However, after turning back on noise cancellation everything became much easier to understand and listen to. Once the noise-cancellation kicked in, it didn’t take long before I could feel myself relaxing and focusing better.
The AirPods Pro 2 is coming in hot, and it’s clear that they are a better version of the first release. I know that having listened to them for a few days, this was a really smart decision by Apple. In terms of sound quality and clarity, the AirPods Pro 2 outperforms the first by leaps and bounds.
The microphone has also been vastly improved from my experience with call quality and noise cancellation-something I never thought would be possible to improve upon but totally has.
One thing I’ve noticed, however, is that you don’t get quite as much of a charge as you did before when using them-I’m not sure if this is just because they have better battery life or what. That said, these are absolutely incredible purchases!
They’re not cheap, but they’ll save you so much time fiddling around with your phone while listening to music or podcasts. For those who are considering them, do it! You won’t regret it!
Charging case & Connectivity
The charging case is sleek and lightweight. It’s also small enough to carry around in your bag or purse without any trouble. AirPods charge quickly, so it doesn’t take too long to get them fully charged.
One thing I like about the new model is that they charge really quickly and can get to full power in less than an hour. You don’t have to spend as much time waiting around as you do with other models.
Once they are at 100%, you can leave them in their case to charge overnight and they will be ready for the next day. You can also keep the case with you during a full day of use because its battery life lasts up to 24 hours.
I was never worried about running out of battery on my AirPods Pro 2 because I always had my charger with me! I have been using them daily for about a month now and I haven’t experienced any problems yet. They work really well when listening to music on my iPhone, using Siri, and making phone calls.
I don’t experience as many connection issues as I did with the first generation. My AirPods Pro 2 stay connected to my iPhone until I want them to disconnect. When we need connectivity back, all we have to do is tap the AirPod that needs to reconnect and the voila-the connection gets restored.
If I lose one of my AirPods, I just double tap the earbud that is still attached to hear the sound coming from both devices. That way, I can find the lost AirPod by following the sound.
One last thing to mention is that if you’re not an Apple user, then these might not be a good fit for you. But if you are an Apple user, you should definitely give these AirPods Pro 2 a try.
The battery life on AirPods Pro 2 is even better than on the first generation. They advertise up to 24 hours of use, and this is definitely true. They will last through an entire day of work and then some, but if you go for a long jog or cycle all day, you may find that your earbuds start to run out near the end of your workout.
It’s not uncommon for AirPods to die before you finish using them, so it’s good that there are many accessories available to charge them. I recommend buying a charging case or carrying around the charging cable with you just in case!
There’s also something satisfying about popping them back into their case for recharging–I feel like I’m putting away my toys at bedtime. All in all, AirPods Pro 2 is a great upgrade from the original model.
Final Verdict – Should you buy it?
The AirPods Pro 2 has an all-new chip to make connectivity stronger, a better H2 chip for constant connection, and a new case that is both lighter and sturdier. I would highly recommend these to anyone who wants high-quality Bluetooth earbuds with features you won’t find on most other products.
They’re expensive, but they’re worth it. They are available in two colors – space gray or silver – at $249 in Apple stores and online. The AirPods Pro 2 comes with 8 hours of listening time and 24 hours of talk time. When it comes to comparing their sound quality, the original AirPods were already so good that improvements were hard to notice.
However, the improved hardware makes up for this by providing stable connections without dropping out when you’re moving around your house or outside. These also come with noise cancellation so if you want to use them for watching TV or just focusing on something else, you can do that without any distractions.
Another great feature is the ability to wirelessly charge your AirPods Pro 2 as well as your iPhone. Overall, It’s a great buy for everyone who wants multiple features in one device.
