The family already knew.

What the DNA test added was a form of evidence legible in a specific scientific and institutional framework — which has its own value in contexts where that framework is the one through which decisions are made, but which should not be understood as epistemologically superior to the forms of knowledge the family had maintained without it.

This is not an argument against the DNA study.
