Evelyn saw him, and for less than a second, her warm smile vanished completely, wiped clean off her face, and something else looked out of her eyes.

The boy went rigid against the wall.

And in a tiny, terrified voice, he whispered four words that confirmed everything.

“It is her.” Evelyn turned her head slowly back toward me.
