My parents needed me to be nothing, so they would not have to look at me.

And in the vast, quiet space that their not-looking created, I became something none of them could survive a direct look at.

I did not build it to spite them.

I built it because it was in me, and had nowhere else to go, and the darkness they had left me in turned out to be the perfect place to grow.
