Don’t Let Your Mother Answer for You
I did not defend myself.
Not one sentence, for the whole seven minutes.
I did not cry, which took something, because the alternative was a child having to look after an adult’s feelings about his own complaint.
I did not touch him.
I wanted to, badly, and he was not in a state where a hand on him would have been for him.
And I did not fix it.
I did not say but I’m here now and I did not say I’m going to make it up to you, because both of those are requests for the other person to stop being angry, and he had every right to be angry and I was not going to take that off him after taking so much else.
