Every Light in the House
“I will always come if you call.”
“Even at night?”
“Especially at night.” Mia hugged her.
During the drive back to Austin, she slept in the back seat with her moon-light glowing beside her. Nobody spoke. At home, she refused to sleep in her bedroom.
We put a mattress beside our bed. She asked to leave the bathroom light and hallway light on. I left both glowing. Near dawn, she turned toward me. “I left all the lights on so you could find me.”
“I found you.”
