Andrew and I ran a small commercial design studio. We had two important client presentations scheduled in Dallas, both arranged months earlier to coincide with Grandchildren Week.

“That’s the idea.”

“You don’t have to check every five minutes,” she said. “She’s perfectly safe with us.”

“I know.” My response came too quickly.
