Fifty-One Hours
I told him on a Monday evening in October, seven months after a garage floor and three months after two boxes arrived on a doorstep.
I chose a Monday because Auggie went to Lorna’s on Mondays until six-thirty and because I wanted an hour with nobody in the house.
I want to set out how I did it, because I planned it for about six weeks and most of the plan was about what I was not going to do.
I did not ambush him.
I texted him at two in the afternoon: Can you come straight home tonight, no gym.
