Chapter 8 — Spreadsheet Babysitting

I opened the first folder myself.

It held statements from my father’s retirement accounts, his business accounts, his investments — and, laid over them in my own annotations, the map of where the money had gone.

Over eleven months, a little more than one point eight million dollars had moved out of my father’s accounts and into three companies that Leon controlled.

The transfers wore respectable disguises: consulting fees, emergency loans, property investments.

On paper, to a casual eye, they looked almost ordinary.
