Chapter 7 — I’ll Call You When I Land

“Well,” Sarah said, warmly, looking down at the two of them.

“Looks like our little girl doesn’t want to let Daddy go.”

And Marcus did the hardest thing he had ever done, which was to smile back.

He stood up, slowly, and he kissed Lily on the forehead, and he even leaned over and gave Sarah a light kiss on the cheek, the ordinary goodbye kiss of an ordinary husband leaving on an ordinary trip.

“I’ll call you when I land,” he said.
