“You were never this vicious before that woman put a ring on your finger.”
“No,” Daniel agreed. “But I was never this honest either.”
He shut the interior door.
We stood there for a full minute until her engine faded down the street.
Mia padded into the foyer holding a battered stuffed rabbit and looked up at her father. “Who was outside, Daddy?”
Daniel crouched to meet her eyes. “Someone who isn’t allowed in our house anymore.”
