Daniel attended the closing night of Rooms Without Doors. He bought a ticket online under a shortened version of his middle name and stood near the back in a dark coat.
No one recognized him. He watched strangers stand before Evelyn’s paintings with the attention he had withheld. Some cried. Some argued quietly about the meaning of certain colors.
