Seven months after our divorce, I rushed into St. Jude’s Children’s and Women’s Hospital, still angry at my ex-wife, only to learn that she had just given birth to twin boys, and both of them were mine. Before the night was over, a nurse would place a brass key in my hand and tell me to use it before my own family arrived. And what was waiting for me beyond that was even more shocking.
“Why didn’t Sylvia tell me about the digital copies when I talked to her earlier?” I asked, confused.
“Because she needed real proof that you were looking for the truth yourself before trusting you with the evidence,” Evelyn explained plainly.
“She knew your father would instantly label her a bitter, vengeful ex-wife trying to sabotage the family.”
“My father has already filed an emergency guardianship petition against her,” I told her.
“I’m well aware of the petition,” Evelyn said calmly.
“Can we legally stop that petition from being granted?” I asked urgently.
