Seven months after our divorce, I rushed into St. Jude’s Children’s and Women’s Hospital, still angry at my ex-wife, only to learn that she had just given birth to twin boys, and both of them were mine. Before the night was over, a nurse would place a brass key in my hand and tell me to use it before my own family arrived. And what was waiting for me beyond that was even more shocking.
“I met with Evelyn, and she gave me the verified digital archives,” I told her.
Sylvia’s eyes widened a little.
“The encrypted flash drive?” she asked.
“Yes, I have it right here in my coat,” I confirmed.
“Your father will immediately claim the accounting data was tampered with,” she warned.
“Margaret Lin is verifying the digital signatures herself as we speak,” I assured her.
“You’re taking this straight to the full board of directors?” she asked, wanting to be sure.
“I’m taking it right into the boardroom,” I confirmed.
