The lawyer looked at Julian, then down at his empty notepad, and shook his head.

“No, Your Honor,” the lawyer said softly.

Julian reached out to grab his lawyer’s arm, but the lawyer pulled his sleeve away.

Judge Callahan picked up his brass spectacles and put them on.

“The evidence presented leaves no doubt of intentional financial fraud and forgery,” Judge Callahan said.

He looked directly across the room at Julian.

“The court finds that Julian Moreno engaged in systematic financial abuse of an elder and grand larceny,” the judge said.

Julian stood up halfway from his seat.
