Two people were tired.

Both of us.

Genuinely, deeply tired, from the shared project of raising our children.

And when Julian was tired, the solution was obvious and immediate and unquestioned: he would spend money, and take time, and go do something restorative, and return refreshed.

His tiredness was a legitimate problem that legitimately deserved a real solution, purchased with our shared resources, requiring no one’s permission.

But when I was tired, the same tiredness, arguably a worse one, since I was the one not sleeping, there was no solution at all.
