I looked directly at Howard. “Did you do that, Howard?”

Howard looked away, refusing to meet my eyes. Laurel answered for him quickly. “He didn’t understand what he was doing, Elisa.”

Emilia removed another document from the envelope. “The rejected filing also contains Elisa’s electronic signature. However, trust security records show that Elisa never entered the signing portal last night.”

Landen raised his voice, his face reddening. “Half my office staff uses our home network for work. Anyone could have logged in.”

“That may be true,” Emilia replied smoothly. “But the identity-verification image captured during the attempted signing shows Ms. Fields holding Elisa’s driver’s license up to the camera.”
