The genome shows that Clovis people were the ancestors of modern Native Americans — but it does not show that Clovis people were the first people in the Americas.

It is entirely possible that there were people in the Americas before Clovis, and that the Clovis expansion either absorbed, replaced, or descended from those earlier populations.

The specific genetic question — whether any pre-Clovis populations left descendants in modern Native American populations, or whether all modern Native American ancestry traces to the Clovis expansion — cannot be directly answered by the Anzick genome alone.

It would require ancient genomes from pre-Clovis contexts, which are generally not yet available because well-documented pre-Clovis sites with human remains are rare or nonexistent.
