He wore a cloak made of woven grass — the first example of a prehistoric grass garment ever found.

Underneath, he had a fur coat, a belt, leggings, shoes, and a fur cap.

The coat was made from the hide of at least four different animals: red deer, brown bear, and goat-type animals, assembled in a patchwork that suggested repair and reuse rather than a single original construction.

The different hides had been stitched together with sinew, producing a garment that was complex in its construction and clearly the product of significant craft skill.

The shoes deserve special attention.
