Records can be edited.

A chart can be built one visit at a time by a patient man.

A story can be repeated until it sounds like the reasonable one, and a room full of decent people can be persuaded to doubt what is directly in front of them, because doubting is easier and because nobody wants to be the one who makes the scene.

But the truth is patient in a way that people are not.
