I had honored it faithfully for six months.
The tragedy, if you can call something this silly a tragedy, is that my faithful non-wondering meant that when I finally did look, I looked with six months of unexamined curiosity stored up behind my eyes, and it all came flooding out at once, in the worst possible direction.
Chapter 4 — The Humming Behind the Door
There had been clues, of course.
Looking back, there were clues all over those six months, and I had walked past every one of them with my eyes politely averted.
