“The first is a suppression motion. They’re moving to exclude the entirety of the material transferred from your residence on the night of the breach.”

“On what grounds?”

“On the grounds that a private citizen, without a warrant, without authorization, without a federal agent present, without any chain of custody whatsoever, hijacked an in-progress cyber-intrusion and used it as a delivery vector to push forty-one gigabytes of unverified material onto three federal systems.”

Adeyemi’s face did not change. “And that the private citizen in question was, at the time, the ex-wife of the defendant, in active litigation with him, with a documented motive, and with unrestricted prior access to every system the material came from.”

Rachel said, “That’s absurd. She was under armed assault.”
