Every photograph anybody posts contains a great deal of information that the person posting it is not thinking about, and most of it is dull, and occasionally it is the whole thing.

I identified a date range of about eighteen months from a dead plant and a piece of two-by-four, and I did it because I have spent eleven years reading past-performance submissions and treating every image in them as an assertion that has to be supported.

I am not suggesting anybody run a forensic analysis of their friends’ engagement announcements.

I am suggesting that when something is wrong, the photographs are usually the least guarded thing in the entire record, because the person posting them is proud.
