It is a real function and the people who do it are not being punished; they are doing a job that has to be done and that I had frankly never thought about once in eleven years.
I did that job for eleven months.
I was good at it by about the third month, which surprised me and which I have decided not to be embarrassed about.
I rewrote a file plan that had not been touched since 2014.
I found nine hundred and forty cubic feet of paper that should have been dispositioned in 2017 and got it dispositioned.
I am, apparently, the reason a certain retention schedule exists in a certain agency, and one day somebody will find that irritating.
