The House in the Photographs
She was annoyed with me for five weeks.
She is not annoyed with me anymore.
I walked out through the gate and past the grey sedan and I got into my car on Cordova Street and I sat in it with the engine off for some period of time that I cannot account for and that I have put at somewhere between ten and thirty-five minutes.
I know it was at least ten because a parking enforcement officer came past twice.
The only thing I remember deciding, in that car, is that I was not going to go back in.
I have thought about that decision more than almost anything else in this account.
