I am not going to pretend otherwise.
By the following spring I could take her through an airport, a car, a lobby, an elevator, a corridor and a room and have her arrive at a chair having been on her feet for six minutes in total, and there is not a person alive who would have seen anything.
That was the skill.
It was a real skill and it came out of fourteen months in a rehabilitation service in Texas and it is the only thing about those two years I am unambiguously glad about.
On the fourth day she said something to me that I have turned over ever since.
