The Name on the Building
A foreman hurried over and showed Katie some papers. She looked at the boy under the sheet, made a phone call, and pointed toward the cameras.
An audio specialist had cleaned up the sound of that call.
“Take the tapes before the police get here,” Katie said on the phone. “The boy cannot be connected to our clinic. Pay off the builder and the press. My son Alistair must never know.”
The room went completely still.
Katie’s face drained white. “That video is fake,” she whispered.
“Three experts examined it,” Alistair said. “I gave a copy to the chief of police this morning.”
