The Night She Came Home
Evelyn rose from the couch. “You shouldn’t have come alone.”
Mia’s eyes filled with fear. “Two men came to my apartment. They said I saw nothing. They said I like my job. And they mentioned my son’s walk home from school.”
Robert stepped forward, but she lifted a trembling hand. “I don’t want money. I don’t want trouble. I came because your daughter looked at me like she was already dead.”
She reached into her bag and pulled out a flash drive. “I copied the corridor footage before the hotel manager deleted it.”
Evelyn took it carefully.
“There’s more,” Mia said. She opened an audio file on her phone. It crackled, but Victoria’s voice was unmistakable. “Hold her still. If she signs tonight, everything stays clean.”
