The Note Nobody Read
In our business, “terminated for cause” is a complete sentence.
The second was my aunt Sarah, who had been standing on that lawn, and who spent a year and a half correcting the record one dinner at a time in Phoenix, in the specific way that women of seventy-six can, which is by saying “That isn’t what happened, and I was there,” and then changing the subject and refusing to be drawn.
By the second year, nobody was asking me about it any more.
I want to record what that period actually cost, because I have noticed that these accounts always skip to the vindication.
