It had been her own good judgment, protecting the world from a pilot who had not yet forgiven anything.
And tonight she had finally set the anger down, not because she had resolved it but because the airplane left no room for it, and in the space where it had been there was, once again, a pilot.
Chapter 11 — Two Green Lights
They came down into the weather and the weather took hold of the airplane and shook it.
Rain drove sideways across the windscreen in sheets that the wipers could not keep ahead of, and the crosswind leaned hard against the fuselage, and the diversion runway was somewhere down in all that black water and falling sky, marked only by numbers on a screen and a thin promised line of approach lights that had not yet shown themselves.
