“In my years on the bench,” Judge Merrion said, his voice dangerously low, “I have rarely seen an act of elder exploitation so calculated, so cruel, and so arrogant.”
He pointed directly at the two of them.
“You did not try to protect a vulnerable mother.
You tried to liquidate a human life for profit.” He dismissed the guardianship petition with prejudice.
Then he looked toward the courtroom doors, where two bailiffs had already taken their positions.
