It cares about the truth being established once and for all, the harm being stopped, the people who did it being prevented, by something larger than any one person’s anger, from ever doing it again to anyone else.

I am not even sure I wanted him to suffer, when I let myself examine it honestly.

What I wanted was for the poisoning to stop, for the truth to be known, for Julian to be believed, and for no other family in any other town to go through what mine had gone through.
