The Truth I Carried Home
I looked down at the flash drive.
“I didn’t understand all of what he meant, back then.
I was nineteen and terrified and grieving a man who had vanished.
But I understood the promise.
Keep the child safe.
Keep the truth safe.
Wait until it’s safe to come out.
And so I waited.
