The Woman in Room 412
For five years I believed love meant blind trust and no questions.
I know better now.
Love does not track your movements or shrink your world or tell you who you’re allowed to speak to, and it never uses your own fear as proof that you’re imagining things.
My father lived because a secretary saved an audio file, a doctor refused to look away, a friend picked up the phone after three years of silence, and a dying stranger decided that my life was, after all, her business.
They put the men who did this in prison, but that was never the real victory.
The real victory was getting my own voice back.
