Other researchers working with early individuals from fish-rich environments are more likely to address the reservoir concern explicitly because of the attention the Buhl case has received.

The burial is useful precisely because its limitations are now clearly understood.

A site whose limitations are hidden or unrecognized is less useful than a site whose limitations are explicitly characterized, because at least in the latter case researchers know what they are and are not using.

The uncertainty in the Buhl date is not an embarrassment.

It is an accurate representation of what the evidence actually supports.

And an accurate representation of uncertainty is more scientifically valuable than a confident misrepresentation.
