The Young Woman Found In An Idaho Gravel Quarry — And The 12,500-Year-Old Burial That Complicated The Clovis Story

The objects found with her were positioned in ways that suggested intentional burial rather than accidental death and coincidental deposition.
The burial appears deliberate — a person placed in the ground with objects that someone chose to include.
What the objects were, and what they can tell us about the people who buried her, will take some unpacking.
But their presence beside her is itself significant: it suggests she was buried by people who cared about the act, who made choices about what should accompany her.
State archaeologist Thomas Green led the team that recovered and initially analyzed the burial.
