Detective Miller carried a thick manila folder held shut with a heavy silver metal fastener.

“The assistant county prosecutor reviewed the camera files thirty minutes ago,” Detective Miller said, stopping near a square concrete pillar.

He unclasped the folder and pulled out a stapled packet of legal documents printed on heavy cardstock.

“The footage is perfectly clear, Mrs.

Bennett, and we’re taking this very seriously,” Miller said.

“What exactly are the charges against her?” Kevin asked.

“Felony reckless endangerment of a vulnerable infant, and child endangerment,” Detective Miller said.
