Chapter 12 — One Final Detail

The ceremony setup was untouched, exactly as it had been planned months ago.

Guests took their seats.

Flowers lined the room in great soft banks.

The music began, that swelling, hopeful music, and I walked into it in my dress with my head high, and to every single person in that room it looked, to everyone, like the beginning of a marriage.

What none of them knew — what Nathan, standing at the front in his suit with his flawless devoted face, most of all did not know — was that I had added one small detail to the plan.
