I need to describe what it is like to be a person who has done nothing and who is inside the window, because I did not know and because I have since found out that almost nobody knows.
The window, in our case, was from nine forty-three in the morning, when my sister’s car left my driveway, until ten fifty-nine, when I walked into an emergency department.
