Price & Configurations

The Dell Precision 17 7730 starts at $3,999, but our fully loaded review unit came in at a wallet-busting $4,599. That’s not unheard of for a high-end mobile workstation, but it is on the expensive side.

The base model comes with an Intel Core i9-P4200 CPU, 64GB of RAM, a 4TB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD and an Nvidia Quadro P4200 GPU with 4GB of VRAM.

Our test unit was configured with dual NVIDIA  Quadro P4200 GPUs, 64GB of RAM, a 4TB RAID for, storage, and Core i9 CPUs. It also had a 4K UHD (3,840 x 2160) IPS display.

The Dell Precision 17 7730 offers great performance across all applications while being lighter than many other options in its class.

It’s not as thin or light as some competing models though and the battery life leaves something to be desired when compared to some other options out there. If you want that professional look without spending too much cash then this might be the right option for you.

Design and Build Quality

The Dell Precision 17 7730 is a well-built machine, with a sleek and sturdy design. It’s not the lightest laptop around, but it’s still portable enough to be taken with you on the go.

This image shows the Dell Precision 17 7730.

The screen is large and bright, and the keyboard is comfortable to type on. The trackpad is responsive and accurate, and the overall performance of the laptop is impressive.

There are four slots for memory (two 8GB sticks) and two M.2 slots for storage, so if you’re looking to upgrade your specs in the future, Dell has got you covered.

It also comes with an Nvidia Quadro P4200 graphics card which will help power through demanding tasks without slowing down your system too much. Plus there are plenty of ports to keep all your peripherals connected at once!

One downside we noticed was that while it was easy to clean off fingerprints from the Dell Precision 17 7730 thanks to its glossy surface, dust or dirt can accumulate over time near the touchpad and under keys – so make sure you give it a quick wipe now and then! The Dell Precision 17 7730 was quite positive overall.

Keyboard, Trackpad, and Display

The Dell Precision 17 7730 also has a 15.6-inch 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) IPS display. Plus, it has Thunderbolt 3, HDMI 2.0, Mini DisplayPort 1.4, and USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A and Type-C ports. Finally, the Dell Precision 17 7730 weighs 6.9 pounds and is 0.98 inches thick.

The Dell Precision 17 7730 has a solid keyboard and trackpad. It’s a matte-black finish with little to no flex and generally feels better than entry-level gaming keyboards.

In addition, it has good key travel and is extremely quiet, thanks to it being fanless. There is a fingerprint reader on the right side of the keyboard, allowing you to log in without typing in a password every time. However, if you want backlit keys, then there are less expensive options out there that offer it.

The trackpad is smooth and very responsive, with no lag. It’s also big enough to be comfortable, though it may be too large for some users. The integrated buttons have a nice feel to them and work well.

Finally, unlike many laptops in its price range, Dell did not skimp on display quality to save money. It has a beautiful 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) IPS display that covers 100% of the Adobe RGB color gamut and 95% of the DCI-P3 color gamut.

Overall, you won’t find a better display on any laptop in its price range or even twice as much as its $4,599 MSRP price tag.

If you are looking for a powerful workstation that can handle graphic design, video editing, engineering work, or similar tasks without breaking your budget, then the Dell Precision 17 7730 should be on your list of possibilities.

Performance & Test Results

The Dell Precision 17 7730 is a great workstation for professionals. It has a fast processor, plenty of RAM, and a large hard drive. Plus, the graphics card is top-of-the-line and the screen is large and clear. The only downside is that it’s a bit pricey.

One of its best features is that it has a quad-core Intel Xeon processor and 64GB of RAM. Plus, it has over 4TB of space on its SSD to save all your projects and files. It also has an NVIDIA Quadro P4200 graphics card, which makes drawing and editing images faster and easier.

However, at $4,599, it’s quite pricey. Plus, it weighs 6.99 pounds, so it’s more difficult to move around than lighter laptops. While its 17-inch screen is great for watching videos and editing images, some professionals may prefer a smaller one because they travel often.

Overall, though, it’s a powerful workstation that offers great performance without sacrificing battery life or mobility.

Overall, it’s a powerful workstation that offers great performance without sacrificing battery life or mobility. It’s a bit expensive, but if you’re in need of an excellent laptop to handle all your tasks and need it now rather than later, then it’s well worth purchasing.

Heat and Noise

The Dell Precision 17 7730 is a great workstation for professionals. It’s packed with features and has great performance. Plus, it’s got a beautiful 4K display.

Whether you’re a professional graphic designer, gamer, engineer, or just want to play some basic office tasks like word processing or emailing – the Dell Precision 17 7730 will be perfect for what you need.

The Dell Precision 17 7730 features include Thunderbolt 3 ports for easy connection to external monitors or other devices. The Nvidia Quadro P4200 graphics card helps to ensure that there are no glitches when you’re creating 3D models or playing games on your monitor.

The Dell Precision 17 7730 discusses how the monitor supports 100% Adobe RGB color gamut to help artists create vivid images without distortion in color or saturation. If you’re looking for a high-performance system with everything you need, this is the one!

Battery Life & Charging

The Dell Precision 17 7730 has great battery life. I was able to get around six hours of use on a single charge, and that was with the screen at full brightness.

Plus, the laptop charges quickly. I was able to get from 0 to 100% in just under two hours. If you’re looking for an all-day workstation, this is it.

The Dell Precision 17 7730 has a removable battery, which is great. I like to be able to replace my own battery when it starts to die because it allows me to get a little more life out of my laptop. Unfortunately, you’ll need an adapter to charge while using your laptop, but that’s a small price to pay.

Also, I should mention that I’m not a fan of laptop bags. In my experience, they’re just too bulky. If you don’t want to carry a backpack around campus with your laptop in it all day, you can buy a separate battery charger that allows you to charge your laptop on the go. Just remember to keep it charged! Overall, it’s a very impressive laptop!
