Introduction

The Dell G15 5520 is a solid laptop for gamers. It has a large screen, good performance, and a great design. The Dell G15 5520 is a gaming laptop that comes with a 15.6-inch screen, an i7 quad-core processor, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of SSD space.

The laptop also has two GPUs; an Intel HD integrated GPU for daily tasks and a dedicated NVIDIA GeForce GPU for when you want to play your favorite games. In terms of specifications, there’s nothing missing from it.

Performance-wise, it can run most demanding games on high settings smoothly with no lags or crashes. When you boot up new games on it, they will immediately start loading instead of taking time to load like on other laptops I’ve used before.

Playing this game feels just like playing it on my Xbox One! As mentioned earlier, the Dell G15 5520 has two GPUs, so you don’t have to wait for one video card to be freed up while the other is being used.

That’s why this laptop performs really well and delivers better frame rates than some other laptops I’ve tried in the past. On top of that, the battery life lasts for around 4 hours which is pretty decent considering how powerful this thing is!

If you’re someone who likes to take their laptop everywhere but doesn’t want it to die out halfway through their journey then this might be a good option for you as well.

Overall, the Dell G15 5520 is a good laptop for gamers who are looking for a large screen and good performance. Below is my full detailed review of this flagship!

Price & Configurations

The Dell G15 5520 is a great laptop for gamers. It has a 15.6-inch Full HD display, an Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB of RAM, and a 512GB hard drive. Plus, it has a GTX 3060 Ti graphics card for smooth gaming performance.

The starting price for this laptop is $1,399.99. You can also configure the G15 with up to 32GB of RAM and a 1TB hard drive, so you have plenty of options.

We recommend going with one of the cheaper configurations since you’re paying for both parts separately. If you want to play games on higher settings, then go ahead and invest in more expensive components!

The price is reasonable for such a solid laptop. I recommend going with one of Dell’s cheaper configurations since you can always add better components later. You can also buy additional memory and storage from third-party sellers on Amazon or elsewhere online.

Design, Keyboard, Touchpad

The Dell G15 5520 has a sleek, black design that will look great on any desk. The keyboard is comfortable to type on and the touchpad is responsive. The laptop also has great performance, making it a great choice for gamers. Overall, the Dell G15 5520 is a solid laptop for gamers.

The Dell G15 5520 has a 15.6-inch, 1080p display with excellent viewing angles and vibrant colors. The design of the laptop is slightly bulky but it looks great and won’t take up too much space on your desk.

The backlit keyboard is comfortable to type on, but it could be more responsive. The Dell G15 5520 comes with a full-sized keyboard that is backlit and has a numeric keypad.

The keys are well spaced out and have a good amount of travel, making it comfortable to type on for long periods of time. The only downside is that the keys are a bit on the noisy side.

There’s also an issue with crumbs getting in between the spacebar and surrounding keys, which can make typing difficult. We found this to be more of an annoyance than anything, but if you’re prone to spilling drinks or eating while gaming this could be a major issue.

Thankfully, we were able to get most of the crumbs out by using a compressed air duster. It was easy enough to clean out the rest after unscrewing the bottom panel, so this shouldn’t be too much of an issue.

The trackpad on the Dell G15 5520 is large and easy to use. It’s smooth and responsive, making it a pleasure to use. The only downside is that it’s not backlit, so you’ll have to use an external mouse in low-light conditions.

The touchpad on the Dell G15 has smooth, responsive scrolling and clicking functions that make navigating websites easy. When you pair it with an external mouse, such as Logitech MX Master or M720 Triathlon Mouse, you’ll have no trouble controlling games or editing videos while you’re away from your computer.

The Dell G15 5520 has plenty of ports, including two USB 3.0 ports, a multi-format card reader, and a mic/headphone jack. The laptop also has 802.11ac WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity so you can stay connected to your network or mobile devices on the go.

It comes with Windows 11 preinstalled. Unfortunately, there is no DVD drive which might limit what software you can install. As a result, if you want to play DVDs or install software not downloaded online, then this might not be the right laptop for you.

However, if gaming is your priority then the Dell G15 5520 should work well as it has great graphics and offers fast performance when playing games like League of Legends and The Sims 4.

Display Quality

The Dell G15 5520 has a 15.6-inch display with a resolution of 1920×1080. The screen is HD and bright, and the colors are accurate. I did notice that the screen is a bit glossy, which can cause some reflections. However, the overall quality of the screen is good.

The screen can be twisted and bent in different directions, however. It’s not as sturdy as some of my other laptops. The screen actually flexes slightly when touched, especially near the hinges on both sides.

This won’t cause any permanent damage to your laptop or hurt its performance at all, but it is a bit annoying. I’ve never seen a computer that bends in multiple places before, so I wasn’t expecting it from Dell.

Thankfully, this was only noticeable while touching the screen and didn’t change anything about how it looked while watching videos or playing games.

Performance and Benchmarks

The Dell G15 5520 gaming laptop performed well in our tests. It scored a 4294 on the 3DMark Fire Strike test, which measures overall graphics performance.

On the SteamVR Performance Test, it notched a solid 6.4, indicating that it can handle virtual reality gaming. When we played Rise of the Tomb Raider at 1080p on Very High settings, the frame rate averaged 48 frames per second.

We saw similar numbers while playing Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare on Low settings with an average of 59 fps. Neither experience was particularly sluggish or laggy during gameplay.

In addition to gaming, this laptop is perfect for students and professionals who need to do light work like photo editing and web browsing, as it has a speedy Intel Core i7-12700H CPU and 16GB of RAM.

The keyboard is also backlit with four different brightness levels, so you can adjust to your environment without losing visibility while typing or working in low light conditions.

The screen is 1920×1080, but some gamers might be disappointed by its 120Hz refresh rate. It’s powerful enough to handle VR gaming with ease, but other laptops offer more competitive prices for less demanding users.

If you don’t mind carrying around a larger laptop and are looking for an affordable price point, the Dell G15 5520 Gaming Laptop is worth considering.

Sound Quality & Fan Noise

The Dell G15 5520’s sound quality is solid. The audio is clear and loud, and the bass is strong. There are some slight distortions at high volumes, but overall the sound quality is good.

The built-in speakers are decent, but they’re not great. If you’re looking for amazing sound quality, you’ll want to invest in a good pair of headphones or external speakers.

However, if you plan on using your laptop primarily as a gaming device, this won’t be much of an issue. You can easily connect any type of speaker system via Bluetooth, RCA cable, or aux cord to get better sound quality. All in all, this laptop has pretty good sound quality.

The Dell G15 5520 gaming laptop is a great choice for gamers who want a powerful machine that can handle the latest games. The laptop is also reasonably priced, making it a great value for the money.

One downside of the Dell G15, however, is that it produces a lot of fan noise when gaming. This can be quite annoying and may make it difficult to concentrate on the game.

However, if you wear headphones or earbuds while playing, this will not be an issue. If you are looking for a quieter gaming experience with a laptop that can still play the latest titles in full graphics settings, you should consider the Acer Aspire Nitro 5 instead.

Heat and Ventilation, Speaker, Webcam, and Ports

The Dell G15 5520 comes with a number of great features for gamers. The laptop has a powerful processor and graphics card, making it capable of running the latest games.

The laptop also has a large display, making it great for gaming or watching movies. The Dell G15 5520 also comes with a number of ports, including HDMI, USB 3.0, and Ethernet.

The laptop also has a built-in webcam and microphone, making it great for Skype calls or video chat. The Dell G15 5520 is a great laptop for gamers who are looking for a powerful machine that can handle the latest games.

This image shows the cooling system of the Dell G15 5520.

The laptop also has a good battery life, allowing you to take it on trips without being worried about running out of power. The only problem with the Dell G15 5520 is that it does get pretty hot.

The bottom of your lap can feel quite warm after playing for an hour or so, which may be a little uncomfortable for some gamers. This can be improved by ensuring adequate ventilation.

The Dell G15 5520 comes with a built-in webcam, which is great for gamers who want to stream their gameplay. The webcam quality is good, with clear images and colors.

However, the field of view is somewhat narrow, so you may have to adjust your position in order to be seen clearly. Overall, the webcam is a good addition to this laptop and will be appreciated by gamers who use it.

Overall, if you are looking for a gaming laptop that can handle your favorite games at high graphics settings, then I would recommend checking out Dell’s line of gaming laptops.

Battery Life

The Dell G15 5520 gaming laptop has great battery life for a gaming laptop. I was able to get about 5 to 6 hours of use on a single charge while playing games.

The laptop also comes with a power adapter that is very efficient. I didn’t have any problems with the battery life during my time with the laptop. I do have one complaint though.

You’ll need to connect an external display in order to see the charge level on your laptop. Dell could have put a battery indicator on the screen, or on their keyboard dock, but they chose not to.

This can be frustrating if you’re trying to figure out how much battery you have left during a game session when every second counts. The power adapter for the laptop is also very good.

I didn’t have any problems with it not charging quickly and my laptop was always ready to go when I reached my destination. If you’re in need of an extended battery for your laptop, this one will do just fine.

You can purchase additional batteries from Dell or Amazon if you need more than one or want them to last longer between charges. Overall, I’m really happy with the battery life on this laptop.
