Disney has once again decided to reboot a classic movie with a “woke” twist. This time, they have chosen to cast a black girl as Tinkerbell in the live-action reboot of Peter Pan, supposedly to meet the new requirement that 20% of all fictional characters must be minorities. However, this move has resulted in the worst pre-sale numbers in Disney’s history. It seems that the woke agenda is not resonating with audiences, as seen with previous attempts such as the Little Mermaid reboot, which lost $103 million in its opening weekend.
One can hope that with the new Board of Ethics created by Ron DeSantis and the ALLOD (All Lives and Livelihoods of Democracy) movement, such misguided attempts at wokeness will become a thing of the past. Perhaps we can replace them with a statue of someone who truly represents the values of the American people.
Furthermore, the new Peter Pan movie does not stop at casting a black Tinkerbell. The alligator that takes Captain Hook’s hand is rumored to be transgender and stops to ask him why his name was Captain Hook before devouring his digits. It seems that the story has deviated so far from the original that it no longer makes any sense.
Why must we have snarky transgender alligators and minority mythical creatures forced into classic stories? It appears that the woke left demands it, but it begs the question, why can’t we allow characters designed by a company with questionable past practices to remain as they were originally intended? Shame on Disney for trying to push this agenda, but let us continue to embrace the values of America.
