It is with heavy hearts that we share the sad news of a true legend — rest in peace.

The announcement came quietly, yet it marked the end of an era. Alan Osmond, the eldest brother and one of the key figures behind the iconic family group The Osmonds, has died at the age of 76.

His passing was confirmed in a family statement, which said he died surrounded by his loved ones. His wife, Suzanne, and their eight sons were with him in his final moments, reflecting the strong family bond that defined much of his life. The family has not released a cause of death.

Alan’s story is closely tied to one of America’s most famous musical families. Born in 1949, he was the eldest of the performing Osmond siblings. His older brothers, Virl and Tom, were hearing impaired and did not perform vocally, which led Alan to take on an early leadership role in shaping the family’s musical path.

He began performing at just 12 years old, singing in a barbershop quartet with his brothers Wayne, Merrill, and Jay. What started as a small family act eventually grew into something far bigger. Over time, younger brothers Donny Osmond and Jimmy joined the group, while Marie Osmond later expanded the family’s presence on television and stage alongside Donny.

The group became known for its precision and discipline, earning the nickname the “One Take Osmonds.” It was more than a label—it was a necessity, as strict child labor laws limited their working hours, pushing them to rehearse intensively outside the studio.
